but I know it was fun. I broke a plant, Found a Ghostbusters Ghost mask. Played jump rope with a slinky. Gave 20 dollars to a random person to get us drinks... Just a normal Saturday really.

Lately I have been getting books from the library down the street and placing them on the coffee table in order to appear smarter than I am, however since Killer ( my cat) and Amy know I am full of it I have started to try and put these books to use. My latest book is Ad Hoc at Home from Thomas Keller, here is a whole blog dedicated to what i am dedicating one post too : http://adhocathome.blogspot.com/ . Today I attempted Pickling veggies. Green Beans. I Really love when they put green beans in Bloody Mary's so I wanted to make my own. I think it went pretty well, however I did add some spice to mine with a whole Jalapeno... if you do this ... do not stand over the boiling water while boiling said Jalapeno..here are photos of what i did.

Ok so I love writing reviews on YELP.com but I always end up saving them until i have WAY too many to write. Well I am in the midst of one of those times.... and while I did crank out about 10 on friday I still have a good 15 or so to share with you... so i thought I would share a few here.

I recently took a trip to NAPA and had two very different experiences at Gamble and at Cakebread. Enjoy.

Gamble Family Vineyard 5 out of 5 stars :

As mentioned previously this is by appointment only, not because they are stuffy, or snobby simply because they have room for 2 groups at a time only. Quaint I believe is the word. There is nothing more peaceful than going to Gamble with your picnic lunch. Enjoying some lovely white wine and watching the wind blow the vines in the background. Its wonderful. If this was not the best experience i have had at a Vineyard it has to be in the top 3. The wine, and that is what it's all about right, the wine is fantastic. Just simply fantastic. I joined the red only wine club only to hold me over until I can go back.

CAKEBREAD Cellars 1 out of 5 stars

What a bunch of SNOBS. You are not better than everyone and just because there is someone semi famous in our group it does not mean you can ignore the rest of us. What a joke. Every step of the way we were encountered with rudeness, from trying to set up the appointment, to letting them know that traffic was making us late, to the actual appointment. Some people need to get over themselves and their name is Cakebread. Oh as far as the wine goes, there are plenty and I mean PLENTY of places you can go to where you wont encounter such obtuse service.

What a crazy week. Let me walk you through it.

While making a harmless salad I stabbed myself in the hand on tuesday while trying to get a pit out of an avocado. For the first time I debated if i needed to get stitches ... hopefully the right decision was made ( no stitches )
I saw some improv and discovered New York Improv is way better than San Francisco improv. Bought a coffee table. Drank wine on my porch.

Rooted for the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins.

Drank more wine.

In the past i have given up things such as beer, fries, Fast and Furious movies... this month I have decided to give up candy.

I eat a lot of i. I love it. I kind of want to see how hard it is to give up! Wish me luck. So day One was yesterday. So far so good.

Hello friends. Two years ago I sold my first painting to a friend. Last year I sold three to someone I did not know and have since set up an ETSY account to sell more paintings.

Today I have added a CUSTOM PAINTING option. I did this last year for a friend and it turned out really well. Here is how it works

Tell me what size you want it to be on etsy the only option is 12 x 20. The cost on ETSY is 50$ for a custom painting of that size, if you want a different size just let me know and we can talk about price.

Tell me what song lyric or line from a book you want me to use. If you want to tell me anything about why you picked that one that works well.

If you want you can tell me what colors you want or where you would be putting it. I will take it from there.

This CMJ at the Pirate! party I painted. Later I gave the painting to one of the people at the party. It all went very well and I thought I would share the painting here. It's the only photo of the painting I took. The words in the center are taken from a Built to Spill song and a Tegan and sara song.

How to save the record industry( or at least stop them from wasting so much money )

Earlier today I received in the mail three copies of an EP from a major label artist. I IM'ed my friend and said, "I bet you if major labels stopped sending out 4 copies of records to people they would save a lot of money and would not be doing so poorly.". He said to me " No kidding!!! Over the past month I have gotten in a lot of the Modest mouse single" So I pressed and tried to see how much he had been sent. Overall he got in 2 copies of the first single sent overnight to him. Then he got 3 copies of the record on a CD-R . Then when the next single came out the same thing happened and then again when the full EP came out again.

I am no rocket scientist but this seems like a no brainer. Lets say we are just talking about the world of college radio. If you are overnighting a record to radio

( let me take a second to say how stupid this is in the first place, It has become so easy to send a record, a single, anything over the internet instantly why ever ... and I mean EVER would you need to overnight a CDR or a cd? EVER!)

So back to what I was saying if you overnight a record to radio it is going to end up costing you ( on the low side because they do so much volume and thus get a "deal" ) five dollars a pop. So you are sending this record out to 1000 people at least, that's a waste of 5000. Then you do this for the next single and then for the full record. thats 15000 you could of saved from one artist. Believe me when I say these numbers are on the low side of things.

How much would it cost to send all this out digitally? I believe that would be too small of a cost to meeter really.

And yet it seems the major labels, for the most part, are more hell bent on protecting the CD. Going after anyone and everyone that makes them loose money from missed sales due to downloading. When really major labels are hurting themselves more than the consumer ever could. How can you say a CD is worth 10-15 dollars when you WASTE 1000 cd's for promotion.

My friend told me well they can't stop sending records people will complain. Let them complain I say. If one of the major labels were to stop sending promotional copies out and only service records digitally, slowly they all would.

When something gets too big it becomes hard to manage. Things fall through the cracks and poor decisions get made. While cutting mailing CD's to radio stations and press people might not "save the record industry" It would save them a TON of money.

You knew it was coming. I did at least. And it's not over by a long shot. I am talking about the whole Steroids "era" that has been clouding baseball over the last 10+ years. But I am tired of it, in fact I stopped caring about it a long time ago. BUT IT WONT GO AWAY

Enough is Enough.

Baseball players did/do Performance enhancing drugs. Why does it matter so much when its safe to say football players do all the time. I am willing to bet basketball and hockey players take drugs. GASP Shocking I know. The point is really I am tired of this FAKE outrage towards baseball. Chances are your favorite player did drugs, but does that make his base hit / strike out any less awesome. NO. But I suppose it does give someone with nothing better to write about something to write about.

In 1994 , after the strike, baseball had to make a big comeback. Everyone was PISSED off that everyone just quit on the game. So there was no World Weries and there was a lot of work to be done to get the game back to where it once was.

We famously had the home run chase between Mark Mcgwire and Sammy Sosa. Do you seriously think no one knew they were on something? Come on. There was too much money to be made by journalists. "oh look everyone baseball is awesome" "home runs are fantastic" "OH the game is back!"

And now all these holier than thou reporters need to move units again by tearing down the sport they pretend to love. Those that were yelling Home runs are awesome are now screaming that drugs are bad and anyone that does drugs should be suspended. They do this on the pretense that its for the fan . But the fan's do not care. When I listen to talk radio or read sports blogs I hear the "fan" chime in and ask why people are still talking about this. They really do not care that much about the PED's. This is so obvious by just looking at Manny in LA. Everyone there LOVES him SOOOOO much. They could care less he got caught taking drugs. Many other cases could be made, attendance was projected to be down because of the economy. However if people really did care that much, wouldn't they just stop watching?

The only people that seem to care are the talking heads on the radio and TV.

Well I for one am bored with all the steroid talk. Can we move along? I doubt we can. I mean if the media can't even see that Ricky Henderson should of been voted in to the hall of fame by 100% of baseball writers ( along with a lot of other players I am sure) Then how can they see that this story is getting old.

Ok I am done ranting for now

SXSW...It keeps going ..and going and going

Where does the time go! I honestly have no Idea. A lot has gone on since I last posted but lets stick with my most recent awesomeness and thats SXSW in lovely Austin, TX! I got in on March 14th, and it seems like a month ago. So lets recap as much as I can!

I ate a LOT and I mean a lot of BBQ for those of you heading down there soon check out County line, its a bit outside of the city ( by bit i mean 10-15 min drive..maybe a bit longer) but it is soooo worth it! I had Brunch THREE TIMES... for those of you that have not accepted it as fact BRUNCH IS THE BEST MEAL OF THE DAY!!! I had Brunch at the Iron Cactus, it was good.. a lot of food of course and everything was very fresh. Then I had Brunch at the 4 seasons, pretty much the best bacon you will ever eat and then pretty much the best Brunch of them all was Moonshine! OH my lord white chocolate bread pudding... I don't think I need to say anymore.

Aside from the food I spent a lot of time outside and the weather could not of been better I think it was 72 and sunny ( mathmaticly proven as the perfect temperature ) every single day. If only I could of played tennis as well it would of been perfect!

I have not had a radio show since i left WRBB in Boston a good 4 years ago. Hello everyone from lovely Tennessee!!!! This weekend was another in a long line of fantastic weekends! The Pirate!crew went down to Athens Ga for the Team Clermont summer camp! This year the Kickball game was decided in an epic 3 run walk off home run in the bottom of the 7th! Giving the W's the come from behind win! We all went to Chuck E cheese to celebrate! Paint did not just become my bitch over night. Ok maybe it was over night. It was back in 1999 on my Compaq computer when I came home a little overserved from the bartender. I turned on the microsoft paint program and went to work. Somewhere in a closet are the originals but after much prodding by my roommate I decided to put them to canvas, and the rest as they say is History. So if you wish to peruse all my old paintings by searching for PAINT. But the reason for this post is with my new phone there is a program where I get to paint on photos! So it's sort of like paint is my bitch 2.0. SO here are some of those photos from my recent trip. Enjoy

So much has happened in the last 4 days it has been a fantastic whirlwind of fun and excitement!

Let's look back and see what I have been doing starting with Thursday!

Thursday we got into town and went out for drinks with some friends... not too exciting but i did get to ride in the back of a truck. Unlike the south this is frowne

d upon so I had to hide

On Friday we went to go see THE DARK KNIGHT and it was really everything I had dreamed it would be. Such a good time. Then we had a BBQ and played a game called Celebrity

and i really think everyone should play.

here is how it works

2 teams ...works best with more people but lets say teams of 3 ... i think it could work with teams of 2.

Get a big bowl and a bunch of paper cut into pieces big enough to write a few words on.

everyone spends time thinking of "celebrities" and writes them on the papers, folds them in half and places them in the bowl.

Examples: can be as straight forward as Ted Danson or as strange as "the turtle boy from the internet" However whatever is written down is the Clue you have to get your team to say.

Once all names have been filled out one person on the team gets one minute to go through as many names as possible. For the first round anything goes. You can say anything except what is written on the paper. The first round goes on until all the papers are gone. After each minute the teams take turns going and alternating between people on the team.

After all the names are gone you tally the scores and put all the papers back in the bowl. Then you start round 2 but this time you can only say one word. You go through all the names the same way and then tally the scores.

Then in round 3 you can only say the word penis. Seriously it is a blast and a half. Let me know if you have any questions.

On Saturday we went to a Wine event up in Santa Barbara. 90 wine vendors and free food. There was so much good wine, thank goodness it only went on for 4 hours or i have no idea how we would have gotten home. After the event we drove down to Newport and went out on a boat, played some skee ball and of course did some Kareoke.

On Sunday we got to go see the Sox play the Angels to round out the perfect start to the trip.

Well its been a few weeks since I last reported to you and well things have been great. Last Sunday was my birthday and that was great up to the part where I got food poisoning so that put a damper on things for the past week. But now I am up and running full speed ahead! This past week I got to see the Hot Water Music reunion show! Went to see Tim Fite and the Watson twins. Tim was nice enough to grace us with a Pizza party and also a Clay Monster building contest. Sunday was spent at the McCarren park pool for the Breeders and they put on a great show... all and all it was a pretty great weekend!

This week I am heading off to LA for 10 days and then off to Atlanta for a week and then to TN for a few days.. Be back in new york in about a month!

What a weekend! Went to RI for a Bachelor party! Got in some Golf, Grilling, The Beach, it was a grand time! When I came back on Sunday I had drank the equivalent of 54 sailors so I decided to ride my bike down to McCarren Park Pool for the Pool party featuring Hold Steady and Loved ones. On the way there it started to DOWNPOUR and it was amazing to see the Loved Ones with so much water coming down....this photo was taken after the rain let up a bit but I have to say it was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time! My Birthday is on Sunday! Thats all!

What a great week. I am not sure I can remember/ retell of all the events of Flag Day but I wanted to give you some highlights. In NO order at all, from the Day and from the Week.

1) We started out Flag day with a simple plan. To take a photo of every beer we drank. It started off well.

I wont go through the whole series but .... my favorite part is that Braden had his 9th beer 5 times.

2) A total of 5 kegs and 18 cases of Dogfish Head beer was consumed a new Flagday Vs Hoodstock record!

3) I lost my pants.

4)we got to play wiffleball in the park

5) Brooke found picked up a 80 year old man at the ball park. They are moving to Atlantic city together .

6) Turns out my pants were in my room.

7) we drank 16+ pitchers of beer and ate 5 trays of nachos while watching the Celtics come back Vs the Lakers on Thursday.

8) I almost got kicked out of Karaoke but was able to sing : Rock Lobster, Dancing with Myself, America and You may Be Right.

9) 7 people apparently got cut off after the party. I was one of them. Go me.

10) No one died and I woke up in my own bed.

So yeah good times!

This is our yearly party and we ask you to come join and drink ... its that simple ... so come and drink and have fun times and arm wrestle canada.

Last summer, The Syndicate's Hoodstock took on Pirate's Flag Day in an epic clash held on the battle grounds of Astoria...and so began the battle for the ultimate summer party.

Everyone was in full force and the pressure was on:

The wrestling match between The Syndicate's Jon Landman and Pirate's Steve Theo somehow resulted in a catastrophe so great it turned into a tag-team match - eventually defeating itself in a pool full of maple syrup and stale beer.

Such mayhem continued in a contest between Doug of Pirate! and Pat of the Syndicate, where the ball clearly went into the strawberries and should of resulted in a 2 shot penalty. The referee did not notice and points were not altered, which lead to the final death match to decide the fate of the party.

Matt from the Syndicate was able to eat 12 Moonpies - 1.5 more than Pirate's Canada in the final battle of the afternoon giving Hoodstock a close and extremely controversial win!

This year on the afternoon of Saturday June 14th 2008 at Fontana's in NYC the battle will continue.... Hoodstock vs Flag Day II !!!!!

Come celebrate the celebration! Be part of the mayhem! Battle the epic battle!!! Beer will be provided by Dogfish Head. Bear Hugs will be provided by Steve and Matt. Canada will provide Beards, Pat will provide surprises. Doug and Meredith with dance your face off. Graham will high five you until his hand is officially crippled. Drink up, Lefty.

On Saturday I got to see The Breeders, The National, Modest Mouse, Fleet Foxes, Dave Bazan, Grand Archives, M.I.A, and I am sure I am forgetting some. On Sunday we got to see Michael Franti, Tegan and Sara, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, The Cure, Mates of State and I know I am forgetting some here too but it was a blast. I got to hang out with my 98 year old grandfather and discovered I am part scandinavian and thats why i have this photo of me under the flags! enjoy!

Hello there friend! Thank you for reading. This weekend I was in Boston for the Red Sox Vs. Brewers. We were going to go to a game on Friday and Saturday but Friday nights game got rained out so we had the special treat of a double header on Saturday! I had never been to a double header so I was very excited. 18 innings of baseball 14 innings of drinking. Its a tough feat. My friend chuck was in town and we swept the doubleheader so it was a glorious day!

Sunday I watched the Celtics beat the "never desperate" Cav's from Cleveland. Then I caught up on Lost and the Office and

now its 2 days in the office before I take off to Seattle! I will be visiting with my sister, aunt and grandfather before heading down to SASQUATCH! Then its back to Seattle for Some baseball before heading back here!

Its less than a month until Flag Day so get yourself a plane ticket and we will see you in New York for June 14th!

If you have listened at all to the new album from Tim Fite then you know thats from the first song. The new record Fair Ain't Fair is a fantastic Anti-folk/country/ punk romp taking you in every direction possible. I went to see Tim on Saturday night and had planed on recording some video to share with you but I was quickly shut down but thats what you tube is for and here are some gems for you to check out!

This weekend was also full of a lot of running and i wanted to see how long it would take me to bike to work if i want to do that in the future It says here on google maps its 9miles and should take 22 min. It took me about 39 min so not too bad... scary at times but still fun
So yeah that was the weekend good times! This week I see Tegan and sara tonight along with An Horse and The Black Keys later this week and then off to Boston! !!!!

I love the 5th of May. Although today is a Monday the whole summer is still ahead of us. We have had a handful of nice days and they are only going to get nicer. May is a fantastic month. Today brings us a chance to overdrink coronas of course as well and listen to Liz Phair's "cinco de mayo" off the whipsmart album its a damn good time! This weekend was a whirlwind of fun i went to a Yankees game on Friday night. Then out to New Jersey to the BAMBOOZLE festival and then on Sunday i took the Boltbus out to Philly for the Phillies vs Giants baseball game! It was pretty great... If you live in Philly, DC, New York or Boston you need to know about Boltbus! 1 dollar tix... the high price is 10 dollar tix. Internet in the bus ... thats all you need!

What a nice weekend of doing nothing but still having a great time! I went to my first Mets game of the season and discovered that if you get there an hour before the game they let you go down in the lower level without much fuss. Something to remember for sure next time. This past week got me really excited for summer With Flag Day just around the corner things are looking good.

What a Fantastic weekend! As you can read in the previous post we took a jaunt up to Toronto to visit our favorite station in Toronto CFRE. They were kind enough to let us do a radio show. You can go here and listen to it. But let me warn you it is 3 hours ... the first hour is DJ EARL GREY (matt from CMJ) then DJ PANTS takes over (Canada from Pirate) the third hour is your very own douginthehouse . There are some good parts and some parts that we wish we could take back but overall it was a blast so listen and let us know what you think! Tomorrow morning we are waking up very very early and making the trek to Toronto!

Just got the new Blood Red Shoes record on Import and on first listen I think it could be one of my favorites. No idea when the record comes out over here but here is a Video for ADHD that i have enjoyed for some time.

This weekend was to mark the weekend I made the trip up to Toronto to see my first Baseball game of the season AND my first game at the Toronto Skydome. Sadly Canada ( the person) got sick and we have postponed our trip but will make the trip in 2 weeks so all is well. Every year I go to at least one new baseball stadium in my quest to hit them all. This year I am going to the Skydome and to the stadium in Seattle. Hopefully a few more but those 2 for sure.

Here are the stadiums i still need to go to: Oakland, Seattle, Minnesota, KC, St. Louis, Houston, White sox, Tampa Bay, Miami, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Arizona Detriot and the new ballpark in DC.

So back to this weekend. Not too much happened but on Saturday I had a craving to see Coming to America. So at first I tried my hand at downloading movies and well I have no idea how to do that. Then early on Sunday I went to the Virgin Megastore and got it for 10 bucks!

This week I am going up to Boston! Red Sox...maybe some MAN MAN.. and good times.

The first 3 months. Gone. Every year when i think and try to remember what I liked I struggle with what happened at the start of the year. So while it may seem a bit silly to recap 1/3 of the year I am doing it cause i know i wont remember at the end of the year.

So lets get started! Here are some of my Favorite records of the year! ( in no order)

Lupe Fiasco--The Cool--Atlantic

So this record came out at the very end of 2007 but was out too late to be included on any best of lists so i have included it here ... For more info on Lupe go here

If i had to name a favorite for the year thus far ... I think this might be it. For more information on Man Man go here.

City and Colour--Bring me your love--Vagrant

I found this record by accident. One of my Music Directors called me and asked me when I was going to send him the new City and Colour record because he is Canadian and I work all the Canadians. A few days later I had the record on my desk and I absolutely love it.

Well this record seems to have come out of thin air! While I have only had this record for about a week I love it and think it will be in my playlist for some time to come!

The Loved Ones--Build and Burn--Fat Wreck

My favorite punk rock record of the year. I saw them open up for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in December and was an instant fan. They take the torch from Hot Water Music and keep going. Such a fun and catchy record. For more on the Loved Ones go here.

Be Your Own Pet--Get Awkward--Universal

I got this record a few months ago and I absolutely loved it. Apparently the record I got was not the record that the rest of the world would get. 3 songs were deemed to "violent" and were removed. I am not sure I am buying that but regardless they are getting a lot of free press out of it. The record everyone else got is good but I fell in love with the other version so it's almost like a completely new record for me to get used to. So if i were you I would track down those "violent" songs. Put Black hole at #1 and you are good to go. The other missing songs are Becky and blow your mind. The Black Keys--Attack and Release--Nonesuch

Simply put I love this record. Just put it on. Sit in your favorite chair and leave in about an hour. You will feel better because of it. I could write forever on this record as there is so much to say. But this is a simple list. For more information on The Black Keys. Go here.

I am sure there are going to be records that are going to grow on me, or records that I have missed. but as of March 31 2008. Those are my favorites.

What a crazy last 2 weeks its been. Texas, Jersey and back to NYC. This past week Christine from KSLU was in town and we lived life like it was another SXSW . Going out every night of the week. Bowling, Karaoke, and margaritas! Whew.... and the NCAA tournament and well trying to live life as well and then easter and easter Brunch....takes a lot out of you. But there is NO rest for the weary! This week marks RED SOX OPENING DAY!!!! Tomorrow morning at 6am! You will find me at Professor Thoms on 2nd ave and 14th street watching the Red Sox open the 2008 baseball season in Japan! Am I excited? HELL YES I AM! Here are some photos from the past week! Next week will bring us April 1st and 1/4th of the way done with 2008! Seeing as last year i could not remember what records came out in JAN, FEB and March this year I am going to try and keep track and this will mark the top 10 of the 1/4th mark of 2008! Email me your best of the year so far as well!

What a a great 16 days March has been. It really has flown by and not a single day has been wasted! I mean I have been wasted but they days... they have been enjoyed to the fullest. As you can read about in the last few weeks. I was in Boston for 5 days and I got to hang out with so many friends. I then went to Texas and had soooooooo much fun, if you have not read the about the Kareoke on Tuesday please do and then REM on WED so much fun! Then on Thursday I stayed up all night and went to the airport for a 7AM flight! I flew home and had about 45 min before my friend picked me up and drove me down to my friend Sean's wedding in New Jersey. We got down there and by 11pm I was so freaking out of it.... So the wedding was on Saturday and that was a blast and a half and lots of dancing and drinking and just so much fun. On Sunday I got home and cleaned and got the house ready for a visit from Christine and Liz from KSLU so one day of rest and we keep it keeping on! For those of you that went to SXSW I hope you had a good time. For those of you that did not go it is pretty much like an indie rock warped tour with lots of free drinks.

So yeah, these weeks have been great. Lots of friends, lots of bands, lots of drinks.

SXSW Day Two.... every day is a Friday.

What a whirlwind. I am sitting here in lovely Astoria NY waiting for my friend to pick me up and head to New Jersey for a wedding. I left Austin this morning at around 7 am and I stayed up all night to do it. Texas was a blast for my last day and I was very sad to leave. Our Party was yesterday and was for sure the highlight of the day. Weakerthans, Tim Fite, MAN MAN, Billy Bragg and Islands! It was part of the ANTI records showcase and was pretty much the best line up of the night. I was running around all day yesterday checking out the KDHX, KSLU party then heading over to the Team C party and the SYN party and all those places once more. Got to hang out with pretty much everyone I wanted to see and am pretty happy about the day. I don't really have any photos from shows but I have a series I am going to call ... LOOK HOW MUCH TALLER BRADEN IS THAN EVERYONE ELSE.

SXSW DAY ONE!!!

Well it was long wait... but yesterday SXSW started and it was fantastic. I started my day with a lunch at the Four Season with the band Electric Touch who i would end up seeing later in the night. Lunch at the Four Seasons is pretty fantastic if you were wondering! Then I headed to our friends at Terrorbirds party then over to the Fader lounge... many drinks were had... we also saw the WEINERMOBILE AND YES IT WAS FANTASTIC! Then we saw City and Colour, who if you have not checked out are one of my favorites as of late! After that we did a brief stop back at Fader for The Kills then we headed over to see Canada who as always put on a great show.

Next I went to try and get into Be your own pet but the line was crazy and I wanted to see Electric touch anyways so after that I went to go try and see REM. When I got their the line was out the wazzooo but .... lets flash back to Monday when I went to Stubbs for a Party. They gave me a Stubbs wristband and I left it on..thinking..well maybe if they have the same color of wristbands on Wed. I can get in.... Sure enough they did! So i was able to sneak in and see REM for the first time ever. They played an amazing set and really made my week! After REM i really wanted to see The Black Keys..they were playing the same show as Be your own pet and the line was still...OUT THE WAZOOOOO so I went down to see Cadence Weapon who as always put on a great show! After his show .... on the way to another bar for yet another drink... we saw there was no line for Black Keys so we got to see the last 3 songs!!!!!

So everything seems to have worked out! Today is my last day here in Texas and I plan on living it up!

Actually the night ended with a bottle of wine. A ton of people came into town and we had a blast. It was a good warm up night... I cant really think of anything note worthy . We drank on a roofdeck, drank at many bars and thats pretty much it.

SXSW ... Day Negative two

Would that be right? Day Negative 2? Minus 2 days until SXSW begins for the Music part of the festival. So yesterday our Monday plan was to call radio and do our normal work thing but this year our Hotel internet was the crap and we could not do anything. So we found a nearby interweb connection and sent out some emails and went out to enjoy the day in Texas.

Being in Texas and having had Mexican food on Sunday we wanted "the best" BBQ in Austin. Some people told us The Salt lick others told us Ironworks but we settled on The county line

I decided to have the Brisket tacos and they were fantastic. Our Friend Elliot Lipp had their famous Deep Dish Pecan Pie for lunch and that was pretty damn fantastic. We then hit up some thrift stores and tried to get into a free movie preview. The Thrift stores had no mens clothes and we got the shaft on the movie preview so we went down to the Pure Volume house to get our free badges and started the drinking. We went down to Beerland and with out hesitation I can firmly state that this place has THE WORST KARAOKE in the whole world. No lie.

Let me tell you the back story. Last year when we went we got there early and I would say that the place had 15 people max. Our group of 10 or so people put in some songs... more people showed up and slowly but as time goes...it passes... 2 hours later none of us have sang. So we as the feisty drunk group we were cornered the Karaoke guy ..yelled at him... made him feel bad about his life and then we all got to sing... too little too late. This year... the place was slightly more crowded and there were 2 jackasses instead of one running the karaoke . We all tipped like he asked us ,to get our songs in but a few songs before any of us sang the machine ( a 30 dollar machine you could buy at wall-mart ) broke so they 2 drunken buffoons ran around trying to figure out how to make something work. The jimmy-rigged something so that music played and the mic worked...i think its called a CD player. So another 30 min goes by and i have yet to sing despite my bribe, and of course they "accidently" threw away my slip so I calmly ask where it is ...and they tell me to calm down and he starts going through the trash looking for the slip. ( I let him look for a little while before telling him i can write it down again... BUFFOONS! ) So i get up to sing my song... I know all the words to superstar from the carpenters so not having the screen with words was no big deal until one of them hits the cd player and it skips to the last verse and thus ends my song. By this point I might be a little drunk and I go off on a long diatribe on stage about how this place has to be the WORST karaoke place ever. They cut my mic of course but that does not stop me... My last line I think I said to them was.... " by acknowledging me you are only giving me Power" And that was karaoke. The rest of the night was fun. Some more drinking... we got to watch a married man hit on a 21 year old girl from canada it was funny.... he and she went home alone ...oh fun times..here are some photos from last night(i tried to put some up but my connection is not the best...so here is one for now)

Hello there my fairweather fans. I hope everyone is well. I am in lovely Austin Texas.
Got here yesterday and it was a lovely 72 and sunny. Today it is rainy but still warm so i will take it. Down here for SXSW!!!! This weekend was FANTASTIC I was in Boston and we did some Kareoke! I went Bowling! Then headed down here. Not much else to say... but I do have some fantastic photos from the past week i wanted to share.... I wanted to add a lot more but for some reason internet in Texas is slow. Its a simpler way of life...... you know iced tea. Lemonade.... Bar-b-Q and tacos.... but here are some of the good ones. We went to Border Cafe one of my favorite places in boston. We went to Kareoke as well. Good times!

Happy March My friends! I am so happy Feb. is over. FOr those that do not know i took off the month of Feb from drinking. I also got the Black Lung and tried out the raw food diet. So it was pretty much the most anti-fun month I have ever had. But now...now its March! and well Spring brings hope and joy.! Baseball starts this month! SXSW is this month! I am going to Boston 2 times this month! So this weekend I Broke Edge and had myself a lovely time.

Thursday Night was actually the start of all the fun as we go to bar that shows Lost on EVERY TV and people go crazy! Then we went out to see Apes and Androids!

They were rather Fantastic then on Friday night i went out to see The Acorn The Acorn and got some fine Mexican food in the city with brooke.

Saturday was our Fantasy baseball draft so we nerded out for 2 hours with that and then went to a birthday party...the party to be honest was quite borrrrring but ... we were able to convince the bartender to let us shotgun beers so yeah that happened...

Sunday i went shopping and bought some new shirts for TExas and saw Semi-Pro!
all and all a great weekend. This Wed i leave for Boston for a few days to see the Boston Celtics play basketball and try to get STeve to do some Kareoke. LAst year we were able to get him to sing Total Eclipse of the heart... oh man it was as good as you think it would be. Then SUNDAY ..... going to TEXAS!

Well not really, but I do love that line. So for some reason this past week i saw that movie Definietely, Maybe not once but twice. I had no real plans of making this happen but when you are sick and hopeless you have little power over your actions. So this makes week 3 or is it 4 of being sick . This is week 2 for sure of Bronchitis but I feel today that is starting to get better? Maybe? Definitely ? haha whew....
So this weekend I watched a bunch of TV bought Season 1 and 2 of Perfect Strangers!!!! So yeah do the dance of joy!
I watched the Oscars last night and was happy with most of the results. How could you not love Daniel day Lewis in There will be blood! Not sure if you watched the season return of SNL but hey had a great bit making fun of the I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE line... check it out here

well we just got back from PUNK ROCK BOWLING in Las Vegas NV.
For those that do not know we go once a year and drink and bowl for about a week.

This year had 3 teams. The JV team missed the playoffs and the Freshmen team made the B-league playoffs. The Varsity team of Douglas , Chuck, Josh and Braden came in 24th and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual champions! Not too bad. While at Vegas i did Bowl my all time high of 228! ...

This is a very very very early painting. Maybe my 2nd or 3rd. For those that do not know. Paint is my bitch came about when i came home drunk one night and was playing around with the Paint program on my 1997 Compaq computer. My roommate came home and asked. Hey what are you doing. I said... Making Paint my bitch. So it stuck. So a lot of my early paintings are reinterpretations of those early Paint programs on the computer. This is one of those. I am going to re do this one very soon.
